Electronics scoring system
Interactive electronics have been designed as part of the Ricochet® concept, and add tremendously to the dynamic nature of the game. Foremost among these innovations is an infrared telltale, who determines front wall, fouls.
Every shot played in Ricochet® must strike the front wall of the court above an 45 cm foul line or the area below it, an infrared beam is tripped, setting off a tone from a speaker which informs players that a foul has been made. This detection system is completely precise and provides an exciting futuristic element to the sport.
Other electronic innovations include a touch pad electronic scoring system, which provides in - court scoring for players and is activated by flush mounted touch pads on the side walls of the court. The score appears on a flush mounted scoreboard positioned center - high on the front wall, and is the high-tech answer to both players and spectators keeping track of the score.
The Ricochet® electronic system randomly determines which player serves first, therefore eliminating the need to spin a racket on the court floor.
You can read here more about the use of the scoreboard and touch pad.
